What Hangar can and cannot do

Hangar sits next to your MetaTrader 5 terminals and your live accounts. That is a lot of trust to ask for, so here is exactly what it touches — and what it is not built to touch at all.

What Hangar does

  • Reads account data — balance, equity, open positions and closed history — from each terminal to draw your dashboards.
  • Finds the MT5 terminals already installed on your machine.
  • Copies Stratotank tool files into the terminals you tick, and updates them.
  • Opens and closes terminals and charts you ask it to.
  • Fetches market news and the economic calendar.
  • Checks your Stratotank entitlements so your licensed tools keep running.
  • Updates itself, and shows you what changed in the release notes.

What Hangar does not do

  • Place, modify or close a trade. There is no order path in the launcher.
  • Ask for, store or transmit your broker login or investor password.
  • Move money, request withdrawals, or touch anything on the broker's side.
  • Upload your trade history or account balances to us.
  • Give anyone at Stratotank remote access to your machine or your terminals.
  • Require a card. The free tier is free, with no trial timer.

Where your data lives

Your account figures are read out of your own terminals and stay on your own machine. The dashboards, the equity curve, the P/L calendar and the performance statistics are all calculated locally from that data — none of it is sent to us.

Hangar talks to our servers for four things and nothing else: signing you in, checking which products your account is entitled to, downloading tool and launcher updates, and fetching news and the economic calendar.

Signing in

Your Stratotank account uses your email address and a 6-digit code. There is no password to set, reuse or leak. Sign-in is handled by our identity provider, and the site never sees a broker credential of any kind — we never ask for one.

If you go offline

Entitlements are cached on your machine, encrypted with Windows' own data protection, with a 7-day offline grace period. Losing your internet connection does not stop your tools mid-session, and it does not stop the launcher.

The installer

The Hangar installer is code-signed by Van Coller Consulting (Pty) Ltd, trading as Stratotank, and is served from our own CDN at cdn.stratotank.com. If Windows SmartScreen shows a caution while our signing reputation builds with Microsoft, choose More info then Run anyway — and check that the publisher on the prompt reads Stratotank. If it does not, do not run it, and tell us.

Removing it

Hangar uninstalls from Windows Settings like any other application. Uninstalling the launcher does not touch your terminals, your charts, your templates or your trading history.
